MORE INFORMATION

Patriot Day, observed on September 11, 2026, brings our community together to remember those who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001, attacks and to stand united on the 25th anniversary of that tragedy.

It was established following a proclamation by President George W. Bush and has been observed annually since 2002.

Patriot Day is not a federal public holiday; therefore, government offices, schools, and businesses remain open as usual. On this day, all United States government buildings and establishments display the national flag at half-mast, and individuals are encouraged to do the same at their residences.

The community is invited to attend the Patriot Day ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park on Thursday, September 11. The event will begin at 11 am and provides an opportunity to honor the victims of the September 11 attacks solemnly.

Guest speaker will be Commissioner Josh Tippens of the Pickens County Board of Commissioners, Post 1 (West).
