May 19th Primary Election RESULTS

[ May 19, 2026 ] The unofficial and incomplete election results for Pickens County's General Primary are in. Below is a summary of the voter turnout stats and the outcomes of the contested Pickens County Board of Education races.

VOTER TURNOUT STATS
Overall voter turnout for this primary reached 27.59%, with a total of 7,540 ballots cast out of 27,329 registered voters in the county.
☆ Election Day Voting: 4,030 ballots (14.75% turnout)
☆ Advance (Early) Voting: 3,347 ballots (12.25% turnout)
☆ Absentee by Mail: 163 ballots (0.60% turnout)

PICKENS COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION RESULTS
County BOE - Post 2 (Republican Primary)
Incumbent Steve Lowe has successfully secured the nomination for another term, winning the race by a significant margin.
☆ Steve Lowe (Incumbent): 4,292 votes (72.27%)
☆ Nick Weaver: 1,647 votes (27.73%)

County BOE - Post 3 (Republican Primary)
In a closer contest for the Post 3 seat, Brian Cleghorn captured the nomination over Danielle Phelps.
☆ Brian Cleghorn: 3,115 votes (55.26%)
☆ Danielle Phelps: 2,522 votes (44.74%)

County BOE - Post 5 (Republican Primary)
Incumbent Joe Wigington ran unopposed in the primary, securing his position on the ballot moving forward.
☆ Joe Wigington (Incumbent): 5,455 votes (100%)

Appalachian Precinct: Now at Mt. Zion Baptist Church (1036 N Main St, Jasper).
Hill City Precinct: Now at Woodstock Church of Jasper (5335 Hwy 53 W, Jasper).
Refuge Precinct: Now at First Christian Church of Jasper (22 Burgess Rd W, Jasper).
