[ April 21, 2020 ] Since the pandemic began months ago the coordinated response to COVID-19 has been at the forefront of Pickens County Government's mission. The county government under the direction of the Board of Commissioners has worked hand in hand with local, state, and health officials.
The situation in our county has been aided by citizens following the advice of public health officials. We encourage our citizens to continue to practice social distancing and limit travel to essential activities. If citizens have a question regarding COVID-19 they can contact our information line at 706-253-8978.
While COVID-19 is the main area of focus for many, there is still important events taking place. The Georgia Secretary of State announced that the General Primary is rescheduled for June 9th at local precincts. Early voting will take place beginning May 18th and run through June 5th with a Saturday advanced vote option on May 30th. All early voting takes place at the Board of Elections and Registration located at 83 Pioneer Road. Voters can also participate via absentee ballot but must return the absentee ballot application mailed to them. If you have questions, contact the Board of Elections and Registration at 706-253-8781.
Also, it is important for citizens to participate in the 2020 Census. It can be filled out online at www.census.gov. A more accurate count allows for better service to the citizens.
