Roper Park will remain open to the public, but health guidelines are in place and will be enforced. We apologize for any inconvenience; however, this decision is in the best interest of public safety.

(6/5/2020) - Pickens County Government was notified today June 5th that an employee received a positive diagnosis for COVID-19. The employee experienced symptoms after work on the evening of June 4th. The employee did not come to work on June 5, 2020, but instead went to be tested for COVID-19 and received a positive diagnosis.

The employee who tested positive works fulltime for the Pickens County Recreation Department and has been at work this week. The individual was following all required health protocols. Our records show the employee never exhibited any symptoms while at work and was never running a fever upon entry.

Out of an abundance of caution and in adherence with CDC and the Department of Public Health (DPH) guidelines, Pickens County Recreation Department will close effective immediately. PCRD will remain closed until the facility is properly cleaned and sanitized. Additionally, all staff, summer camp participants, and other patrons have been notified. This will allow anyone in potential contact to follow proper health procedures.

Pickens County Government will remain transparent with our stakeholders and we will continue to take necessary precautions to maintain the health and safety of our citizens and our staff.
