Joeta Youngblood Resigns From Pickens Board Of Education

[ September 01, 2020 ] The Pickens County Board of Education regrets to inform the public that one of its members, Ms. Joeta Youngblood, has resigned from her Board position due to a recent change in residency. With regard to vacancies on the Board, the legislative act that creates the Pickens County Board of Education provides:

In the event of a vacancy on the board for any reason other than the expiration of a term of office, the remaining members of the board shall select a person from the district in which the vacancy occurs, and such member shall serve the unexpired term. In the event a person moves his or her residence from the district he or she represents, a vacancy shall exist in such district and shall be filled in the same manner as other vacancies.

The Board will meet at a later date to discuss the selection process referenced in the local act.
