Harmony Elementary School Closes After Two Positive COVID-19 Cases

[ October 12, 2020 ] Harmony Elementary School currently has two positive cases and 18.5% of the staff is in isolation or quarantine. Below is a letter to parents on the closing of the school through Monday, October 26, 2020.

Dear Harmony Elementary Families:

Pickens County School District has determined it is in the best interest of the students, staff, and families of Harmony Elementary School to close the school effective this afternoon due to an increase in the number of positive reports of COVID-19 at the school. The school will reopen on Monday, October 26, 2020.

Students will be sent home with learning devices, and teachers and students will transition to our distance learning platform, itslearning. Students have been receiving instruction in how to use the platform since school began in August. If assistance is needed with the itslearning platform, please email your child's teacher or call the school at 706-253-1840.

All other schools in the district will remain open and operate as usual.
Recognizing the challenges that a school closure poses for many families in our community, we are making this decision with a heavy heart but for the greater good. Our priority is always the safety and well-being of our students and staff.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or Mrs. Callahan and her team at 706- 253-1840.
