[ October 23, 2020 ] After continued long lines and complaints to the Secretary of State's office, an additional location for in-person voting will open on Monday. Saturday voting on October 24, 2020 will only be held at the Board of Elections Office on Pioneer Road. Below is the notice sent to the media from Pickens County Board of Elections and Registration:

NOTICE from Pickens County Board of Elections

By Emergency meeting held on October 23, 2020, the Pickens County Board of Elections has authorized a second Early Voting location at:

Pickens County Community Center
1329 Camp Road
Jasper GA, 30143
Enter at the left rear of the building under the covered canopy.
There are four Handicap parking spaces at that entrance.
PLEASE don't enter through the main doors as other activities are still ongoing and temperature checks are being done there for the Yoga, Pickleball and Basketball areas.

Effective on October 26, 2020 until October 30, 2020 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

This location is in addition to the office at 83 Pioneer Road, Jasper GA 30143.

This decision was made to aid voters? additional access during this historical Election Cycle.

‎On KnowPickens Facebook Group, Teresa Fortenberry Plenge praised State Representative Rick Jasperse and Pickens Commissioners for helping make it happen.

Together we did what they said couldn't be done. A second larger, fully accessible early voting location. Let me assure you that those of us who filed complaints with the SOS made this happen. By law elected officials are forbidden to direct the Elections Department to do anything. The only agency with the power to force changes is the SOS. The commissioners willingly provided the extra funds needed. They had been offering to do this since July, but were rejected. We need to give ourselves a hand for not giving up and for working together through the correct chain of command. And of course special thanks to Rick, Becky, Rob and Jerry for their vastly important roles in making this happen. Such responsive elected officials are rare indeed.
