[ November 11, 2020 ] Pickens County Veterans Memorial Park was fortunate on obtaining a grant from the Home Depot Foundation for maintaining the Veterans Park. The Home Depot Foundation works to improve the homes and lives of the U.S. veterans, constantly improving by giving back to the communities they are proud to call their own.
On Wednesday, November 4, members of Veterans Memorial park and Home Depot employees received over 200 bags of fresh brown colored mulch to be placed at the Veterans Park. PCVMP was grateful for the generous support received from Jasper Home Depot and the Foundation grant program. George Towle Community Team Captain was instrumental in assisting us in obtaining this grant. In addition, Robin Leonard Home Depot employee who supported this program by ensuring the project was a success.
This beautification of the park will go along with the upkeep of the Veterans Park to continue honoring Veterans. We are still adding Bricks of Honor at the park. The Brick of Honor is for all regular services members of the military, National Guard, and Reservist. You do not have to be a Pickens County resident.
