[ January 23, 2021 ] The following letter was posted on Pickens High School Facebook page announcing the finalist for the Dragons Football Head Coach position:

To The Dragon Nation:

After an extensive search process, a single finalist has been named for the vacant Head Football Coaching position at Pickens High School. It is with great pride that I announce Mr. Grant Myers is that finalist. This recommendation will be made to the Board of Education by Mr. Tony Young, our Interim Superintendent. As is the case with all hires, this will be subject to Board approval.

Coach Myers has been on staff at Pickens High School for two years and has served as the Defensive Coordinator for the Dragons. He also serves as the Director of Athletic Performance within our school. In 2019, Coach Myers came to us from Spalding High School, where he served on the coaching staff there from 2011-2019. His roles there included Defensive Coordinator, Outside Linebackers Coach, Defensive Backs Coach and Head Strength Coach.

Coach Myers states: ?From the day I began working here in Pickens County, I knew that it was a special place. The community has embraced my family, and has treated us as one of their own. For that, we will be forever grateful. We know that Pickens County is where we are meant to be?.

Coach Myers is married to Jena, who serves as a 3rd Grade Teacher at Harmony Elementary school here in Jasper. They have one child, Hadleigh, and are expecting their second child in July.

The passion that Coach Myers has for the Dragon Nation, this program and our community, combined with his knowledge and skillset, makes him a great fit for this position. He has proven that he is fully equipped and prepared to lead the Pickens Football Program forward. We are excited for him, and for the future of this program under his leadership.
