[ December 21, 2021 ] On Friday, December 17, 2021, the members of the Pickens County Veterans Memorial Park (PCVMP) held its fifth annual ceremony by placing a Christmas wreath at the Veterans Memorial Park. Veterans and Citizens of Pickens County were present.
The Christmas wreath represents those service members who sacrifice their time and safety every single day of the year to preserve our freedoms. In many homes, there is an empty seat for one who is serving or one who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. There is no better time to express our appreciation than during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.
In addition, we honored one of our members Gary Bledsoe with a Quilts of Valor. Randolph and Linda Case Veterans presented the quilt. They themselves are former veterans who are part of the Quilts of Valor Foundation. The organization goes beyond the "thank you for your service" and truly shows special veterans a warming heartfelt thanks... with a quilt. The quilt is made by members of the Pine Needle Quilters and given to the Quilts of Valor Foundation to be presented to veterans who had been nominated to receive the honor.
