[ May 11, 2022 ] Chattahoochee Technical College honored Board of Trustees member Max Caylor as the Spark Workforce Volunteer of the Year at an awards event hosted by the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation on Thursday, May 5, at the Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta.
Caylor has served on the college?s Board of Trustees for over a decade, advocating for students to receive life-changing educational opportunities, noted Chattahoochee Tech Vice President of Advancement Jennifer Nelson. Before the 2009 merger of colleges which created Chattahoochee Technical College, Caylor also served on the Board of Trustees for Appalachian Technical College.
Caylor?s long history of service for the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation includes working on the finance, scholarship, and development committees.
Included among his accomplishments, he was instrumental in helping to refine the scholarship selection process to ensure that the qualified candidates most in need receive scholarship funding. He also steadfastly garners support from members of his community on behalf of the Foundation, and has been instrumental in the success of the Foundation?s annual Reverse Raffle fundraiser.
"Max keeps us all grounded in the mission of the Chatt Tech Foundation ? to provide financial support to the college, its students, and its programs,? said Chattahoochee Tech Vice President of Advancement Jennifer Nelson. ?His integrity and dedication coupled with his passion and advocacy for technical education has changed countless student lives for the better and improved the workforce in our community."
Also honored at this event was Jennifer Chin, who received the Spark Workforce Alumni of the Year award. A 2014 graduate of the college's Clinical Laboratory Technology program, Chin worked in the field of laboratory science for several years at a local community hospital. She now serves as an instructor in the college?s Clinical Laboratory Technology program to help prepare students for employment in this high-demand career field.
The 2022 Spark Workforce Benefactor of the Year award was presented to the Paulding County Rotary Club, which has donated nearly $50,000 since 2006 to the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation for student scholarships. The Paulding County Rotary Club also helped to create the college?s Golden Eagle Food Panty by collecting food donations at their meetings and within the community.
"These individuals and organizations are all helping to build a thriving workforce in our community thanks to their support of our students,? said Nelson. ?They are making a major impact for high-demand career fields available now in the local workforce."
