Pickens BOE Names New Principal at PHS

[ May 13, 2022 ] Mr. Rodney Martin was named principal of Pickens High at last night?s board meeting. Mr. Martin was selected as a finalist for the position following interviews by multiple groups of individuals including parents, students, staff, and district leadership.

Martin currently serves in the role of assistant principal responsible for academics and professional learning at PHS. In addition, he has served as a teacher, Science Department Chair, and Instructional Lead Strategist at the high school level.

In the role of principal, his focus will be on teaching and learning. Day-to-day activities will be guided by a clear vision and mission for PHS. Communication with stakeholders will be a priority along with fostering teacher leadership and building teacher efficacy. A culture and climate conducive to student learning will be the result.

According to Superintendent Tony Young, ?Mr. Martin brings a clear vision for leading PHS to the next level. The commitment he demonstrates to teaching and learning, coupled with his expectations for excellence, will result in tremendous opportunities for our students and teachers at Pickens High.?
