[ September 07, 2022 ] Sequoyah Regional Library System (SRLS) has announced that the Pickens County Library, which has undergone renovation and expansion since summer of 2021, will be reopening to the public this December.
While supply chain issues and lead times caused a slight delay in the construction project?s original completion window, the newly renovated Pickens County Library building will be open to offer full library service before year?s end. The renovation and expansion project is being handled by Hogan Construction Group.
"While we have experienced some delays, we are excited to announce our reopening at 100 Library Lane in December", says Angela Cortellino, Executive Director of SRLS.
"We appreciate the patience and support of the community and cannot wait for the community to visit the renovated library, offering new experiences and new spaces for you all to enjoy. In the meantime, we will continue to offer library service from our Pickens Grab & Go Location."
The Pickens County Library building, located at 100 Library Lane, is closed to the public while construction is underway. While the library is closed, a temporary, limited-service library location called "Pickens Grab & Go" is available inside the Mountain Education Charter High School building, located at 339 West Church Street.
At Pickens Grab & Go, library patrons are able to check out and return materials, place and pick up library holds, request interlibrary loans, pay fines, and browse a selection of items from the library?s collection. Two express computer stations are available for users to access Wi-Fi, print, and make copies.
