[ October 09, 2022 ] In the wake of Hurricane Ian, thousands of Floridians have lost everything. The Pickens Community Thrift Store is currently underway with project "Operation Hurricane Relief: Fort Myers" to transport a semi truck filled with desperately needed items for those most greatly effected in the Fort Myers area. The group of volunteers will leave on November 4 and return on November 7.

Store President Terry "Sarge" Bishop has coordinated with The First Christian Church and St. Mathews Thrift Stores of Fort Myers to partner with the CTS volunteers to ensure the most effective delivery of relief items.

"Our store is a perfect fit for rendering assistance. We have at our disposal so much thanks to the generous donations of our community. Our faith based mission has always been to serve the needy. Now is the time to extend that beyond our county line," spoke Bishop.

To be fully successful, the relief mission needs help from the community. Relief boxes and donation jars will be placed in key locations throughout Jasper. [Currently located at Ingles.]

Items needed include: new and gently used clothing, small appliances, non perishable food, baby items including formula, diapers , etc., water, paper products and cleaning items.

We will also be accepting gift cards of any denomination to be given to those in greatest need. The smallest of items will be greatly appreciated. And as always, all donations are fully tax deductible.

Pickens County businesses and residents have always been so supportive in giving. We pray that you will feel led to assist once again. In addition to the donations we give, we also have need of financial assistance to pay for transportation and lodging of our volunteers.
