[ April 24, 2023 ] Thankfully the storm had passed! Our Jasper Farmers Market was spared another wet day and despite the chilly wind that came and went, along with the sun, it was a wonderful, cheerful day.
The MG's had their tent up to provide gardening information and sell some homegrown plants. The theme was Right Plant, Right Place which makes a big difference for gardening success.
Plus, the Pickens County Master Gardeners will be having their annual Spring plant sale Saturday, May 6th, 8am to 12pm. The plants offered are homegrown in the MG's own gardens. They will be located at the end of the Veterans Memorial parking lot.
The JFM is a great place to find birdhouses for your yard. We have several vendors offering various birdhouses for various birds. The bluebirds are working on their first batch of babies. Frequently, bluebirds raise two or three broods a year, so get a bluebird house or two at the market for your yard. Larry Kent made birdhouses with faces which added real personality.
Paradise Farms were sharing blessings from their Ball Ground farm with jelly tarts including chocolate chip and violet, yum!
Linda Lullie of Herb & Vine offers beautifully grown herbs. Many are not the usual choices including Sweet Annie and Toothache plants. She will have different choices each week, so keep an eye out. She also provides an album with all the information of each plant. You can also make requests for particular herbs.
The Jasper Farmers Market will be open this Saturday, from 7:30 am until noon. There will also be a Summer Wednesday market on June 21st. Come on down to Lee Newton Memorial Park where you will find the Veterans Memorial as well.
