SUMMER DISCOVERY 2024 at Sequoyah Regional Library System
June 1 - July 31

This summer, go on an adventure at your dynamic destination for discovery - the Sequoyah Regional Library System! Explore your local library in June and July to participate in awesome programs at no cost featuring That Puppet Guy, wild science experiments, adventure-fueled education programs for all ages (kids, teens, and adults), and much more! FRIENDS of the Pickens County Library
The Friends of the Pickens County Library have gently used books available for purchase any time the library is open! The board members of Friends of the Pickens Library stock the shelves and collect the case and check from the black box near the book display. You can also pay using your credit card and the QR code. The Friends of the Pickens County Library bookshelf is located inside the Pickens County Library.

Sequoyah Nature Explorers: Biodiversity in our Environment
June 3, 2:00 PM

Is your yard filled with native plants or are you overrun with invasives? Join us for a presentation by the Pickens Master Gardeners to learn about all the wonderful plants that call Georgia home! Learn what plants are native plants, and how to spot them. After the presentation, learn about our Sequoyah Explorers Challenge with iNaturalist.

Summer Discovery Kick-Off: Adventure of the Lost Treasure with Science Heroes
June 5, 2:00 PM

Kick off Summer Discovery 2024: Adventure Begins at your Library with Science Heroes! We will go on an interactive and exciting STEM adventure that combines the magic of stories with the wonders of science! All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration required.

Plants and Paints
June 7, 3:00 PM

Come join the Pickens County Master Gardeners at our Pickens County Library for a fun and informative "Plants and Paints" session. You will learn how to propagate several perennial and annual plants. Then, you will learn how to paint a "cool" summer design on glass. Registration is required.

Touch a Truck: Police
June 7, 10:00 AM

Have you ever wanted to touch a Police Car and meet real heroes? Starting at 10am through 11am, stop by the Pickens County Library to meet real police officers and see the inner workings of a police car.

Teen Silent Book Club
June 11, 2:00 PM

Teens! Join us for a cozy afternoon in the Pickens Library Teen Room and enjoy your current book with fellow readers. There will be quiet music, comfortable seating, and snacks. No registration required.

Family Storytime
June 12, 10:30 AM

Family Storytimes are designed for families with children of all ages. This program features stories, singing, dancing, fingerplays, and crafts. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.

LEGO Lab
June 12, 4:00 PM

Drop in for Lego Lab! Registration is not required, but children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

UGA Artifacts in Your Town
June 14, 11:00 AM

A traveling exhibit of UGA athletics materials and memorabilia is visiting our library!
The exhibit is sponsored by The University of Georgia's Hargrett Rare Book & Manuscript Library and will feature memorabilia from the UGA Athletic Association Archive.
Don't miss out on your chance to see some of UGA's history in person!

Baron the Reading Dog
June 17, 4:00 PM

Join us at Pickens County to read to Baron the Reading Dog! Register for a 15 minute slot to read in a stress-free environment. Time slots run between 4:00-5:30pm. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required.

Lee Newton Park Pop-Up Storytime
June 18, 10:00 AM

Join us at Lee Newton Park's pavilion for a Pop-up Libary and a storytime! Our storytimes support early literacy with books, songs, and fingerplays. After the storytime, stay for our Pop-Up Library to get a new card, return your books, or borrow new ones! No registration is required. All children must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Teen DIY Mini Stuffed Animals
June 18, 2:00 PM

Teens! Learn to sew your own mini stuffed animal to take home! Supplies will be provided. Registration required.

American Red Cross Blood Drive
June 25, 1:00 PM

The American Red Cross is scheduled to hold a blood drive in the Community Room 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Donors should schedule their appointment directly with the Red Cross.

Dungeons and Dragons Character Creation
June 27, 5:00 PM

Want to learn to play Dungeons and Dragons but don't know where to start? Register today to join our Character Creation Class, where we will start from the ground up, creating new characters and learning some basics. Dungeons & Dragons players of all ages are welcome but please keep in mind that this program may be too advanced for younger children. Registration is required. BINGO with Friends!

B-I-N-G-O! All are invited to stop by the Pickens County Library for a fabulous game of BINGO! Winners will receive Bookstore Bucks to our Friends of the Library Book Sale!
