[ September 05, 2025 ] Calling all Pickens County businesses, churches, organizations, and schools! The City of Jasper is inviting you to bring your creativity to downtown Jasper for the annual Scarecrows on Main Street event. There is no fee to register your scarecrow.

This family-friendly contest is a great opportunity to promote your business, celebrate your school spirit, or simply show off your creative flair. Participants are encouraged to build a handmade scarecrow that can withstand the elements - sun, wind, and rain. Please note that no purchased scarecrows are allowed.

Downtown business owners should place their scarecrow directly in front of their business. Other participants can join the Wandering Scarecrows and will be assigned a light pole location along Main Street.

All entries must be registered by 3:00 PM on Monday, September 29, 2025. Scarecrow locations will be sent via email on October 1, and scarecrows must be on display by Tuesday, October 7.

Participants are also encouraged to create a sign no larger than 8.5" x 11" to display with their scarecrow, including the name of the entry and the organization. The signs will help people vote for their favorite scarecrow.

Voting for the People's Choice Award will begin on October 7 and close on October 31. The winning scarecrow will be announced after all the votes are tallied. Participants are responsible for the safety and security of their scarecrows and must ensure they do not obstruct pedestrian or vehicle traffic.

All scarecrows must be disassembled and removed by Sunday, November 2.
